Autumn 2009

What a year. We have our second sow, Wilma, on line and in March she had 13 perfect piglets. She really is lovely and she lets us in the ark when she has the little ones.

In May we showed our first pigs. Mary Kate and Ashley who are the daughters of Sally did us proud at the South Suffolk Show. We came home with three rosettes. Stoked!!

2008 Piglets at last
Summer 2008

Well it looks like the hobby is becoming a business!!

We have started to take orders for pork from people apart from my mum!

Our local pub, The Artichoke, is serving our pork and sausages (made with Tiger bitter).

A new farmers market has started in Northampton... 3rd Thursday of each month; and we are holding a stall there. Thanks for your help Barry; Sara and Dave. We couldn't have done it without you.

We bought a new sow, Sally, who has had a litter of ten fabulous healthy piglets and we have another sow who is being shown by her breeder.

Previously...
2008 Well no piglets! Despite two boars and a feed bill the size of Bournemouth, Pansy remains fruitless. How soft are we?... She now lives at an animal sanctuary where she has the company of two other pigs.

2007 has been tricky; The constant rain in spring meant the electric fence line was always covered in mud.

We lost our first pig who was a runt and finally died with pneumonia despite constant attention and medication.

The two outbreaks of Foot and Mouth didn't help as we couldn't move stock to slaughter as planned and our tamworths learned to climb stock fencing to fight with the saddlebacks... always returning to their own beds by evening!

On the up side... we have a new sow "Pantysgawen Silverwings 50" or Pansy as we call her. We are hoping for our own piglets in the new year.

2006 started with difficulty, we hadn't anywhere to go with our pigs. By the time we found somewhere the season was ahead of us.

This year we kept Gloucester Old Spots.

One of our highlights was Terry Jones popping in - on his way back from delivering a talk about his T.V. series and book; "Barbarians".

Fabulous aren't they.
